Mural on Mortimer at LFA 2025: Oliwia Bober announced as lead artist

As part of The Langham Estate’s ongoing placemaking initiatives in Fitzrovia Quarter, we are pleased to share the next chapter in the Mural on Mortimer project — a public art commission that will transform a key corner of our estate into a vibrant local landmark.
Following a public open call and review by a panel of local stakeholders, we are delighted to announce that Oliwia Bober has been selected as the winning artist.
Community workshop: help shape the mural design
To mark this exciting next stage — and to invite local input into the final mural design — Oliwia will host a free community workshop on Wednesday 4 June at 5pm, as part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture programme. Held at Gilmoora House in Fitzrovia, the session is open to everyone who lives, works, or spends time in the area. It’s a chance to meet the artist, learn more about her process, and contribute ideas that could help shape this new piece of public art.

About the artist
Oliwia Bober is a London-based Polish artist working primarily in acrylics. Her work explores themes of womanhood, identity, and belonging — drawing from lived experience, personal relationships, and her perspective as an immigrant in post-Brexit Britain. Whether capturing a single moment or a broader emotional landscape, her paintings are layered, expressive, and deeply personal.

Celebrating emerging talent
We would also like to recognise the four other emerging artists who were shortlisted for the Mural on Mortimer commission: Taya De La Cruz, Hazard One, Melissa Hartley and Elizabeth Eade.
Their submissions reflected a wide range of styles, approaches and materiality — exactly the diversity of thinking we hoped to see when launching the open call. We’re grateful to all of them for the time, energy and creativity they brought to the process.
More from LFA 2025
Beyond the mural, we are also proud to support other London Festival of Architecture initiatives across Fitzrovia Quarter. This includes sponsoring a new bench for the Fitz&Sits project — a trail of nine creative benches across Fitzrovia led by The Fitzrovia Partnership — designed to create inviting spaces for people to relax and connect. We’ll be sharing more soon about the artist, the design, and the story behind our contribution.
The festival also features the Fitzrovia Food & Drink Trail, with businesses across the estate taking part to celebrate the vibrant culinary scene in Fitzrovia.
