The Langham Estate brings The Artist’s Corner to Fitzrovia

This autumn, The Langham Estate is delighted to unveil Threads in Common, a vibrant new mural by emerging London artist Oliwia Bober. Commissioned as part of our Artist’s Corner campaign, the three-storey piece adds colour, meaning, and heritage to Mortimer Street.
The mural honours Fitzrovia’s long history of creativity. Bober’s design pays tribute to the women who powered the garment industry here in the 19th and 20th centuries, while the colours — drawn from Radiant House’s turquoise tiles and the red brick of Ames House — tie the artwork to Fitzrovia’s architectural character.
A pop-up gallery to mark the unveilling
To celebrate the launch, we are hosting a three-day public exhibition at 55 Eastcastle Street. This pop-up will showcase:
- Further works from Oliwia Bober
- A curated mix of art from local galleries and cultural partners
- A neighbourhood-wide programme of promotions and arts-themed events from Fitzrovia businesses
Opening hours:
- Wednesday 23 October: 10am – 6pm
- Thursday 24 October: 10am – 6pm
- Friday 25 October: 11am – 6pm
The exhibition is open to everyone — an opportunity to immerse yourself in Fitzrovia’s creative energy and discover both new artworks and the vibrant community behind them.
Strengthening the community through art
As Oliwia explains: “My intention is to reflect the beauty of collective effort over individualism, in a celebration of a place which owes a lot to the communities who shaped it.”
This philosophy captures what makes Fitzrovia Quarter so distinctive. From its historic garment industry to today’s creative industries, the neighbourhood has always been a place where collaboration builds culture.
What it means for us and Fitzrovia Quarter
Public art like Threads in Common is more than decoration — it’s a visible sign of how The Langham Estate is shaping the future of Fitzrovia Quarter – our vibrant neighborhood. For us, this project reflects:
★ Preserving heritage: Connecting the neighbourhood’s rich history of craftsmanship and community with a modern cultural identity.
