A duo of galleries join The Langham Estate
We are thrilled to welcome two new independent art galleries to The Langham Estate, in the heart of Fitzrovia.
Contemporary art gallery Shtager&Shch, which specialises in art and photography by emerging and established artists, has recently opened a 1,030 sq ft space on Margaret Street. The gallery frequently takes part in major international art fairs, where it promotes the work of artists from different regions across the world and creates a platform for dialogues between artists and their peers and institutions. Most recently, they exhibited at the prestigious Photo London at Somerset House.
Meanwhile, AB-ANBAR, an independent contemporary art gallery which initially opened in Tehran, Iran in 2014, will be opening a 2,660 sq ft space on Mortimer Street. The space will be the gallery’s first permanent location in the UK when it opens in early July, having previously had a temporary exhibition space in South Kensington.
The gallery’s Founding Director, Salman Matinfar commented on the move: “We chose Fitzrovia for our permanent London location as we have been impressed by the art scene in this part of the city. Compared to other areas in central London, it is more experimental, but still benefits from an equally central location. Fitzrovia is neither too young, too commercial or too blue chip – so it is a really interesting space to be in, particularly as many galleries are now moving back into central London from East or South.”
