Fitzrovia Quarter studio residency culminates in What Holds Us Together exhibition

The Langham Estate’s inaugural studio residency has culminated in What Holds Us Together, an exhibition of new work by six artists at Radiant House, a Grade-II listed building at 36–38 Mortimer Street.

The residency was launched earlier this year through an open call that attracted 253 applicants. Six artists, Esmeralda Conde Ruiz, Jingshan Ding, Purdey Fitzherbert, Holly Keogh, Monya Riachi and Tabitha Wilson, were selected by an expert panel to receive free studio space at 53 Great Portland Street from June to October 2026.

The Langham Estate worked with curators Lydia Allain Chapman and Luke O’Donovan to deliver the residency, providing six artists with space to develop their practices, experiment with materials and processes, and engage with Fitzrovia’s creative community.

Supporting arts and culture in Fitzrovia

Titled What Holds Us Together, the resulting exhibition brings together work developed during the residency, reflecting the artists’ individual practices and their responses to Fitzrovia’s history, architecture, communities and material character. The exhibition brings together painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, writing, sound and performance.

The programme also demonstrates how temporarily vacant space can be used to support artistic production and cultural activity between commercial uses. The studios at 53 Great Portland Street provided a base for the artists during the residency, while Radiant House has been used to present their work to the public.

The Langham Estate will acquire one work from each of the six artists, establishing a collection that records the residency and its contribution to Fitzrovia’s cultural life.

The initiative builds on the Estate’s wider arts and culture programme for Fitzrovia Quarter, which includes the Threads in Common mural by Oliwia Bober in 2025 and The Artist’s Corner, a group exhibition developed with local galleries, cultural partners, businesses and independent artists.

Together, these projects form part of The Langham Estate’s ongoing approach to culture-led placemaking, connecting artists and cultural organisations with the buildings, businesses and communities that shape Fitzrovia Quarter.
