We have bolstered our senior leadership team with two exciting new appointments
We are proud to announce two senior hires to our leadership team. In two newly created positions, Richard Hillyard has been appointed as Head of Sustainability, whilst Joanne McGillen joins as Head of Health and Safety.
The hires mark the latest milestone in The Langham Estate’s commitment to improving our environmental and social impact and working towards becoming a leader in these fields – with the long-term ambition to be one of London’s most sustainable property companies.
Richard Hillyard brings more than 17 years’ of experience from the real estate ESG sector. Prior to joining The Langham Estate, he spent three years at independent sustainability and environmental consultancy Greengage Environmental. He has also held several senior consultancy roles within the sustainability field at firms such as EVORA Global and CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS).
Richard holds an MSc. in Environmental Decision Making and is an IEMA Full Member and Chartered Environmentalist (MIEMA. CEnv) as well as a licenced NABERS UK Energy for Offices Assessor.

Joanne McGillen has 14 years’ of experience in Health & Safety and Compliance, with previous roles at Grosvenor, Knight Frank and REM – Real Estate Management, and has been a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health for six years. In her new role, Joanne leads on the creation and implementation of a new Health and Safety Management System and audit programme, as well as lead on the business’ wellbeing practices, including the recent introduction of a new employee assistance programme. Further to this, Joanne holds the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Joanne McGillen added: “The Langham Estate is responsible for managing a significant area within one of London’s most popular districts, and therefore places a lot of emphasis on its health and safety practices. In my new role, I will work as part of the Estate to ensure it remains a safe and healthy environment for all its employees, its growing business community, and the tens of millions of visitors that visit the area every year.”
Situated in the heart of Fitzrovia in London’s West End, The Langham Estate borders Oxford Street to the south and Regent’s Street to the West, with properties across well-known streets including Great Portland Street, Mortimer Street, Market Place and Great Titchfield Street. It consists of a diverse portfolio of office, retail and leisure spaces in one of the busiest parts of the Capital, attracting a steady flow of workers and tourists all year round. The area benefits from some of London’s best transport links, with six underground lines and two Elizabeth Line stations serving the area. As a result, most areas of London are accessible within 20-30 minutes.
